Austrian organic honey from the 2nd district
LEOPOLD'S BEE
Hello, I'm Ben! In addition to my work as a hotelier and agency owner, I have been running a small organic beekeeping business in my garden in the 2nd district since July 2023 and am allowed to look after 5 hives with busy bees with a lot of fascination and respect. Together with my sister Barbara, I trained as a beekeeper in 2022 in order to acquire the necessary specialist knowledge. The further training in organic beekeeping was the next logical step for me before I ventured to work with the bees myself.
My beehives are located near the Vienna Prater and the Danube floodplains, making them an ideal location for delicious honey from a variety of different flowers. To find out exactly what is happening, I had my honey analyzed and I am always amazed by the exciting results.
Honey Analysis 2024
I hope you enjoy the honey that hundreds of thousands of bees and a motivated beekeeper have produced, spun and bottled for you
Finally, a few exciting facts about bees and honey:
• Honey is one of the most commonly counterfeited foods in the world
• Up to 50,000 bees live in a beehive each season
• A beehive can produce up to 25kg of honey
• A worker bee produces no more than two teaspoons of honey in its lifetime
• Bees fly at speeds of up to 50km/h and cover a radius of about 5km
• Per trip, a bee only flies to one plant species
• There is no such thing as organic honey, only honey from organic beekeeping
