Sustainable Travel in Vienna – Our Tips for Your Stay

Using energy, water and other resources responsibly does not have to be complicated. Even small everyday choices can help conserve resources and reduce waste.

During your stay at the Urban Jungle Apartments, you can make a difference with just a few simple measures.

Use Energy Mindfully

• Air out the apartment regularly by opening the windows fully for a short period of time

• When leaving the apartment, use the “All Lights” switch to turn off the lights

• Avoid unnecessary standby mode on electronic devices

• Switch off fans when leaving the apartment
  
   

Save Water

• Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth, shaving or soaping up

• Keep showers a little shorter whenever possible

• A water temperature of around 38–40 °C is generally perfectly sufficient

• Do not turn the shower pressure up higher than necessary

• Please let us know directly if you notice dripping taps or any other issues

• Use the towels provided during your stay as consciously as possible. Towels are changed once per week as standard. Fresh towels are also available on request, but using them sparingly helps reduce water, energy and detergent consumption
  
   

Use Hot Water Mindfully

Each apartment has its own 150-litre hot water tank. The tanks are centrally replenished at fixed intervals twice a day and are designed to provide sufficient hot water when used responsibly.
 

As heating water requires energy, we kindly ask you to use hot water mindfully:

• Avoid unnecessarily long showers

• Turn off the water while soaping up or shampooing

• Avoid unnecessarily high water temperatures

• Please do not wash clothes in the apartment, for example in the shower. Use our guest laundry instead
  
   

Separate Waste Correctly

• Separate residual waste, paper, glass, packaging and organic waste using the designated bins

• Please place organic waste directly into the designated worm compost bin. All of our organic waste is composted directly on site

• Avoid unnecessary single-use packaging when shopping
  
   

Reusable Instead of Disposable

• Shampoo, soap and dishwashing liquid are provided in refillable dispensers

• Please leave the dispensers in the apartment – we refill them regularly

• A reusable insulated bottle is provided in your apartment for you to use during your stay

• Vienna’s tap water is of excellent drinking quality and is ideal for refilling your bottle

• We also provide reusable shopping bags for your shopping trips

• Whenever possible, avoid disposable cups, plastic cutlery and small single-use portions
   

Wash Laundry Mindfully

Our guest laundry is available to you during your stay

• Whenever possible, only run the washing machine with a full load

• Choose lower washing temperatures if your laundry is not heavily soiled

• Only use the tumble dryer when really necessary

• Avoid washing towels or clothes unnecessarily often during shorter stays

• Use the Oceanwash laundry detergent sheets provided by us. We selected them deliberately because they are a practical and more resource-efficient alternative to conventional liquid detergent and are easy to dose
  
   

Cook Mindfully

• Use a suitable lid when cooking with pots and pans

• Use a cooking zone that matches the size of your pot

• Only preheat the oven when it is actually necessary

• Boil only as much water as you really need

• Store food properly to help avoid unnecessary food waste
  
   

Sustainable Transport in Vienna

The Urban Jungle Apartments are centrally located and very well connected to Vienna’s public transport network

• Whenever possible, use the underground, tram, bus or S-Bahn

• Many of Vienna’s sights can also be reached easily on foot

• Cycling is a good alternative for shorter journeys

• If you do not have your own bicycle with you, there are several bicycle rental options nearby

• Avoid short car journeys when your destination can easily be reached by public transport, bicycle or on foot
  
   

Shop Locally

• Support Vienna’s markets, small shops and local businesses

• Whenever possible, choose seasonal and regional products

• Only buy as much food as you are likely to need during your stay

• Use the reusable shopping bags provided by us
  
   

Respect Plants & Wildlife

Our courtyard is not only a place for our guests to relax – it is also a habitat for plants, insects, birds and bats

• Please stay on the designated paths in the garden

• Do not enter planted areas

• Please do not pick plants or flowers

• Please do not feed wild animals

• Avoid unnecessary noise, especially in the evening

• Please do not use the courtyard as a toilet area for dogs
   

Small Steps, Big Impact

You do not have to give up comfort during your stay. Many small, conscious choices can easily become part of your daily routine:

• Turn off the lights when you do not need them

• Turn off the water when it is not being used

• Separate your waste correctly

• Use the towels provided during your stay as consciously as possible. Towels are changed once per week as standard

• Choose public transport, cycling or walking whenever possible

• Use food and other resources responsibly
